There are many free photo albums all over the web, but not many options for those who would like to host our own. I would pay for this application. It would be a HUGE bonus, if it integrated with the security of the WebWiz Forum:

Allow certain users to upload BATCHES of photos. One at a time doesn't cut it. Also allow the user to create an over-all album comment and title.
Auto resizes each photo to the admin's preferences (640x480), JPG quality and creates a thumbnail. Discard's original.
Albums listed on a master page. Click an album to see pages of thumbnails. Click a thumbnail to see the resized version (original size is discarded). At the photo detail level, provide previous/next buttons.
Allow for the viewer to add comments to each photo detail or PM the submitter.
Photos stored in the file system, everything else in SQL/Access
Possibilities (not high on the priority list) include "add this photo to shopping cart". Check-out would integrate with PayPal, WorldPay, or something else, depending upon the submitter's preferences and account info. This would allow the submitter to sell their work and deliver the original RAW, NEF, TIF, JPG to the buyer.
Integrate photo album with the calendar in WWF v8 (event date)

dont get me wrong, a photo gallery would be nice

but i cant help but feel that the features you listed, (and the idea behind suggesting it) is primarily to benefit your self

in my opinion, half of the features are not "generic" multi-user features, but personal needs of your self

if borg did make a photo gallery, id hope he made features that benefited the most number of users, same with the WebWizForum and other Apps he's made

theres no use adding features a hand full of 'customers' will use, but will affect the performance for others.

also, is your suggestion to make it part of wwForum, or to be a standalone app? as i got confused reading your post as to which you wanted

Dunno what you mean by that since I'm interested in some of those features too. That would lead to a portal though which may be more than -borg- wants to do. MadDog???

My Image Gallery already has some of those features plus more. The next version will also have more image resizing options. You can choose from a ASP.Net script (already has this) that will resize images or ASPUpload (this is new). This saves disk size as it only needs 1 photo instead of making multiple sizes.

Interesting - so you upload 1 photo and it automatically creates the new images in varying sizes?

There are plenty of these for PHP.

It would be better too write one in ASP.NET as ASP does not have the neseccary upload / image handling tools
