Hey Guys...

I'm on WWF 7.9 with SQLServer.

When a forum member posts a URL, we often find rogue spaces in the resulting URL string displayed on the page, however not in the physical URL.

please see here for an example.

http://www.racekites.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4773 - http://www.racekites.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4773

I'm also getting reports from users that at times the URL button doesn't work at all....

Any ideas ?

Cheers
A

In version 7.x spaces were placed in long strings around the 70th character to aid in line wrapping.

This does not effect the URL working when clicked, just the displayed text.

If you upgrade to version 8 RC1 this system has been removed as CSS is used to prevent page formatting issues.

Version 8 RC1 was released today and has 100's of new features as well as a massive improvement in performance.

See the announcement at the top of this forum for more info

edit : do you know off hand where the code is to add the space ?

As far as I recall I think it was a function in the file 'function_filter.asp'

However, there are some security issues with 7.9 so you should upgrade to 7.97 at the very least, but I would recommend going straight for version 8.

thanks B...

yep, need to take a look at the new version. Have integrated the forum quite closely with the rest of my site, so may need to do some work to get it working. Also got a lot of Mods I may have to update...

Great work though B, you're a credit to your keyboard...

Cheers
