Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01f4'

Variable is undefined: 'strEmailBody'

/df/forum/admin_activate.asp, line 126

I get this one when I click on a link to activate a new membership.

I also receive one when I configure a password for a forum. In that one I receive a undefined variable for:

strUserCode

You may have a corrupted file, try reuploading the files again.

I never uploaded the files actually. I downloaded the zip onto the web server and then unzipped the files right inito the folder.

I have received other little messages. For example I initally set it up so that I would receive an email upon a subscription then I would click to activate the user.

Thsi morning I had about 20 emails and I clicked on the link to activate. About 4 or 5 of the links blew up and displayed an error message. It didn't matter though cause the account activated anyway.

Just now a user emailed me cause he clicked on his link to activate he recieved a "registration error and wsa told to contact the admin"

Also in the admin panel when I was adding a password for the forum when I saved the form I received a consistent  error about htis variable strUserCode not being found. I had to DIM the variable in the global declaration then it worked.

I had to remove it later becuase another section said the variable we already delcared.

It seems that there is an issue with the admin activation and setting passwords on forums, that will be fixed in the final version

I guess when you say the admin activation you mean when the new user clicks to activate the membership.

I've had some users get:

Error
There is a problem activating your membership.

Please contact the Professional Magic Routines Forum Administrator.

when they try and activate their membership.

I have to then go in and activate it for them.

Thanks,

Right this is getting confusing as it is two different system people are asking about here.

The Admin Activation feature that allows only the admin to activate accounts does work.

The Email Activation feature that allows users to activate their accounts does work, but must be done straight away at the moment, if users start loggingout and logging-in again before activating their accounts it does tend to screw things up a bit, but this is being looked at.

If users do this and things get messed up, the user can select to re-send the activation email.

It's tough to get users to try it agian. I mean once they see the error message they don't try again they just contact the admin and wait.

I see that you are looking at it so thanks!

It did take a while but I have found a solution and will be releasing an RC1.1 version early next week that will correct this and a few other issues

thanks boRq.  I believe this fix will be the deciding factor of me doing a go live on my site.  and if i get good responses, then i will pay for the ad removals.  i just want the members to have a pleasant experience.
