When making a post to my forum, there is an icon to  post an image.  Clicking that image pops up a javascript prompt: Enter the web address of the image - and prompts 'http://'   Where is the default place to have users post images?  I can't find anything in the documentation.  Is there a folder the program is expecting? Or do I just need to have a folder with write permissions and advise users to use that path?

Best regards,

Gary

from my understanding... you must have already uploaded the image to webspace somewhere.... not the webwiz forums.... then you just place the location of the image in the URL javascript prompt

This is OFF site linking you are talking about, no uploading to your server will happen.  In order to upload to your server you need to be running v7 of the forum or have modded your version.

Thanks for the feedback doublefan and MKrivanek,  It looks like my best bet is v7.  How is the beta testing going?  Is it ready for prime time?

Thanks.

v7 is the sweetest asp forum on the web BY FAR!

If you do not know enough asp and databasing I'd wait till the full version comes out before using it on your live site...but it really is slick with all the new features.  IMO, this release catapults wwf past phpbb.

Great work borg!!!!!!!!

Gary,

For uploading you will also need to make sure that your host supports one of the upload components used by WWF. There is a test script to help you determine this if you are not sure.

Also, the folder (directory) that the uploads go to must have write permissions on it.

WWF v7 absolutely rocks!

Xeerex,

And this test script is in v7?  The hosting company I use has a pretty decent interface to allow me to change permisisons on directories, set up DSNs and all that stuff, so the biggest problem I have is holding off until the production version of WWF...

Thanks for the information.

Gary,

Just download and install this simple ASP page. All you have to do is point your browser to it. It tests for everything but ASPSimpleUpload, which borg added to the forum after this script was done.
