Subject: RC1 unable to send email
Date Posted: 25 March 2006 at 10:47pm
Hi all,

I posted something (which works under 7.9x) in RC1 and get an error

outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication

I have the correct SMTP server, user id and password in the configuration.  What else am I still missing?

The mail settings are the same as 7.9x which is working.

Thanks,

Rob

Make sure you have entered the correct SMTP server username and password in the admin area

Borg,

Here is the error

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while sending an email.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_send_mail_footer
File Name:- functions_send_mail.asp

Error details:-

The server rejected the sender address. The server response was: 530 authentication required - for help go to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/dsl/mail/pop/pop-11.html - http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/dsl/mail/pop/pop-11.html
------------------------

Everything is entered correctly in the admin area and I am using the same mail type as 7.9x in 8.0 rc1.

What else do you want me to try?

It is almost like those items I put in the admin area are not being passed.  The SMTP server, user ID and password are correct.

Rob

I did some tests last night and found that SMTP server authentication is not presently working.

To fix this remove the following two lines around line 60 of the file 'functions/functions_Send_mail.asp':-

Dim strMailServerUser
Dim strMailServerPass
