I'm dying of the flu cos of this rubbish british spring (yeah right) so for my own entertainment this is Just my observations so far...

.........

Q: How do i post new calendar events?

A: Go to post a new topic, within the RTE you should see the 'Calendar events' form elements 'Day, Month and Year'. Fill these out and write a summary of the event in the main RTE textbox and hit 'post reply'.

Q: What calendar event form fields?

A: If you don't see these fields then it means you don't have permission to post a calendar event.

A:
How do i set the permissions?

Q: If your the admin you can set permissions for the Calendar the same as you set other forum priviliges. Just make sure 'Calendar event' is ticked on the groups/members you want to have permission.
If your not the admin then either contact the forum admin or suffer.

Q:
Some of my users can't see the events or some of the events.

A: Events inherit the permissions of the forum they are posting in. For instance a calendar event posted in a senior member only forum will only be viewable to senior members etc. (It will not show up to anyone but senior members in the calendar).

Q:
I have a forum i don't want users to post events in, Is this possible?

A: Of course it is. Either when creating a new forum or from the 'Forum Administration' in the admin  CP, make sure the 'Calendar Event' tickbox is unchecked (or vise versa  if you want to enable events for the forum).

........

If you have any more calendar questions post them here and i'll update the FAQ with my findings  lol Thumbs Up

I have the new v8 upgraded from 7. with calendar mod.

I followed your instructions above on adding an event.
I have full persmissions, I went to new topic, chose a date added some text and posted. Now i have a new topic post that says Event: but when i go to the calendar there is nothing in the date for the event?
As far as a post for each calendar event I'm not quite understanding, I have a million topics already and now each time i want to add an event to the calendar i have to post another topic?
I liked the v7 mod where you can just add an event right to the calendar Cry

Check that the date you entered is correct.

Also, if you have a topic you want to change to an event, just edit the first post in that topic and set an event date for it.

Sorry Mikey, I can't understand this. I have posted an event and I am the  forum administrator but when the date came the event didn't show up in the bottom of the forum. Does the forum displays only birthdays or it should display events as well? Do you mean I can't see the event in my computer because I have posted it and other people may be able to see it or ... what do you mean with a calendar event posted in a senior member only forum?
Many thanks.

This means that the permission system is used for Calendar Events.

When you post a Calendar Event it immediately becomes viewable to all those people who have permission to view the event.

There was a slight error is 8.01 that meant Events over 25 characters would be shown simply as ... in the calendar, however, this issue has been resolved in 8.02

The bottom of the forum only displays birthdays, Check in the mods forum as i think there has been a mod which makes all events displayed.
