Have just finished install/upgrade to version 8.0 RC 1.1 (MsSQL). I cant seem to get this one to work.

I have one forum which is for moderators only. I have checked and doubblechecked that only the moderator group got access to this forum.
Marking "Hide Forum if no access" still leave the forum visible to guests (but they´re are promted with an error and asked for login/pw if they try to access).

Active users seems to be doing something odd.
Right now I have been active on my forum for 849 minutes using win200 (atleast thats what it says). This is not correct. I have been asleep for the last 4-5 hours Big smile Also I´m on a WinXP.
But I have been online as well locally from my server, running win2k. Could it be that this is what confuses WWF ? (coming from the same IP I mean).

As to your first issue, the hide feature only works with forum permissions and not with passworded forums. Passwording forums is less secure and not recommended, you should try and use the forum permissions system to allow access to forums.

As to your second issue, you need to have another user come to your forum in order for the active users table to be cleared, if you are the only user on the same IP no-one else will trigger the code to remove you.

I have set the forum permissions boRg, and it´s all set correctly..
If I tested the hide funktion with another forum it´s working fine, but not for the Moderator Kanal (name of the forum giving problems).

If a user without permission tries to access the forum, an error will promt telling him to either login (for guests) or that he´s got no access to the forum (this message for registered users).

So somehow the forum is indeed reading the forum permission, it´s just doesnt hide the forum as it should.

Try my forum at http://www.nordicreefforum.dk - www.nordicreefforum.dk and look at the 2. forum from below. You´ll see the name Moderator Kanal. This is the one which is setup as hidden.

It looks like for some reason the correct permissions are not being read on the main index page for your forum as it doesn't show as being a permission with no access rights.

I'll have to run tests and see if I can find a solution.

I dont know if this will be any help to you, but it was the only forum had hidden restrictions before the database opgrade. And it seems like it´s now the only forum which I cant hide, (I have only testet with one other forum though).

I just tried different things here.
Hide/unhide others forums - Worked fine for all of them
Hide/unhide Moderator Kanal (once again) - Didnt work, still show
Create a new hidden test forum - Worked fine.
Exchanged the order of forums (the new test forum and the Moderator Kanal) - Didnt work. Moderator kanal still shows.

There has to be something "inside" this specific forum (Moderator Kanal), which is making it show no matter what hide is set for.

I thought about creating a new forum and then copy everything inside the old forum to the new forum, and then delete the old. It will probably work, but then we´ll never know whats the cause of this bug.

Perhaps a close exame of the database could show something.. I just dont know what to look for. (I´m no good at SQL databases unfortunatly).

Well in case you need to test something, let me know.

I have updated the upgrade tool recently because of the new permissions system when doing the upgrade it could course double entries in the database for the permissions for the forum coursing problems like you mention.

The latest upgrade tool now wipes the permissions table and enters default values for all forums, so the web master has to update the permissions in the admin section, once complete, but it gets around the problems that you are having.

The best thing to do now, is to open your database and delete all entries in the tblPermissions table.

Once this is done all your forums will disappear in the main index, but don't worry, just log into the admin section and go to each forum from the 'Forum Administration' page and re-set your forum permissions.

I assume I´ll have to use Enterprise Manager to do this, right? I´ll give it a try tomorrow.
