I'd suggest to write in the Permission Denied files something like that:
<meta name="robots" content="noindex,follow">
cause MSN and other search engines index them.

also I'd suggest to remove using the get_last_post and get_topic.asp pages because google duplicate the forum contents cause of them.

This is a good idea on the Permission Denied page, but as the get_last_post.asp and get_topic.asp pages are required for the forum to run, these pages can not be removed.

I also have a small seo suggestion.

Flattening the forum that is using friendly urls such as:

/bbs/forum_posts/19091/ or /bbs/forums/19091.html  etc...

I guess the most simple way (and also a way that will work with most hostings) to do it is through 404 asp error page. I am sure this feature would increase a number of webmasters wanting to use the wwf.

Cheers,

I like the robots meta idea.

Google indexes WWF just fine.

Multiple listings is a good thing. It gives you more exposure.

And most seach engines handle the querystrings just fine. WWF's string is friendly already. IIRC the other format given won't work with asp, which doesn't have url rewriting capabilities, and .html files aren't read by the server as asp files.

Actually, "friendly URLs" also known as "clean URLs" like you describe are now less effective.  Since so many people now abuse them, Google and others now give text in the URL less weight than it used to.  I wouldn't be surprised that they start ignoring them like they did with meta tags because of the abuse.

I have several sites that do not use clean URLs and Google and Yahoo and MSN find them and index them in the top 10 listings just fine.

Google cares more about content and links.  The URL, while still important, isn't that important anymore.  Times are changing due to the abuse, as usual.
