This is a new installation of forums - RC8.1 - I followed the instructions to a T. Logged in and created the MYSql database and ran the database setup - there were no errors.

I've confirmed that they are running MYSql 4.1

I then went to log into the forum for the first time but got the following:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while executing SQL query on database.
Please check that the MySQL Server version is 4.1 or above.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_mySQL_get_birthdays
File Name:- default.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-4.0.26-log]You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '(tblAuthor.DOB) = 6 ORDER BY tblAuthor.Author_ID DESC' at line

Any ideas?

The error message gives the reason for this issue:-

Please check that the MySQL Server version is 4.1 or above.
[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-4.0.26-log]

Looks like the version of mySQL they are running is actually 4.0.26 not version 4.1 or above.

Check with your host they don't have another mySQL server you can use which is running 4.1 or above (the latest version mySQL 5, is also supported)
