Ever since the first beta of wwf v8 came out i have been going through all the code to check out the improvements done. And well done job by Bruce (aka -boRg-).

Im going to start a new portal from the ground up. My goal is to create the best portal system anyone has ever seen and make the backend based off v8.

I do not plain to charge for this portal like i have in previous versions, so i am asking here to anyone that might want to help in these early developement stages. I should have a verson online soon, maybe within the next few days.

Right now i am coding a bases for a "module" system where people can easly create their own modules of code and make it all simple as possible for new comers to web wiz forum coding.

Way to go Maddog,
Basing the best portal on the best forum software is a great idea, i've always liked your work and think whatever you come up with will be cracking.

I'm not a great coder but i'm always willing to test things to the death and blow up my local server to find bugs etc so if ya need any help on that then let me know Thumbs Up

Cool one brave soul to help me test Thumbs Up

Im going to try and get a forum up today with wwfv8 so i can start posting ideas, screenshots, downloads, and get some imput from people.

This portal design that i have up in my brain is going to kick arse and be smoking fast! Ive been coding with web wiz guide software for over 5 years so i know Bruce's code like my own Cool

I will admit that i never have used your portal before, the reason for this is because i run a charity website which has less than £0 budget, so far everything purchased for the site (WWG forum and mailing list license and all domains, serverspace etc) is payed for by me with any money coming in going into events etc.

I'm going to have a browse round your current site right now Wink

P.S. regarding your coding with webwiz and -boRg-'s code, i know i've been using your mods for about 5 years lol Tongue

how are the language files created? if someone can guide me i might work on Urdu, a widely spoken and known language in south asia where wwf is also being used at a large capacity.

The language files the same as the WWf ones, except i added one more called portal_language_file_inc.asp for the portal text.

Each language is stored in its own folder. If you could post the language files at http://b2.iportalx.net - http://b2.iportalx.net that would be great Big smile

hey maddog,

I can offer German if that helps. Although I have some general knowledge of coding, I do ot have any coding skills in ASP. Looking at the language files in WWF8 that should not be a problem though.

I would've if i knew what to do? Confused Urdu uses Farsi or Arabic alphabets, now I get that the file to be changed is the language file but in there only english alphabets are stored, should I be giving the paths of images? or something like that? a little briefing would do much good if possible thank you in advance.

member_profile.asp?PF=20379&FID=19 - asikaLp , please dont hi-jack this thread with something that has nothing to do with the mod.

As for everyones question about a release date. I have been extremely busy working on other jobs to pay my bills. I am going a child in about 2 months so at this time making money is a very big goal and free projects have been put on a hold for a little while. I will release the first release very soon.

Sorry, was a bit busy (slack!!!) with the German language files only have two more to go... language inc and help... the two largest :)
However, Mad Dog, I do not have the language file(s) for the portal, only for WW8, how could I get the Portal (Beta) language file(s)?
Also, some icons might need altering, ie PM, since in German it would be PN, unless you want to introduce the term Private Message into the German translation. I have no preference and Germans use a lot of English on the web anyways.
