I recently installed WebWiz Forums to my website (which is hosted by GoDaddy, if that's relevant), and followed the directions setup as carefully as I could.  When I ran msSQL_server_setup.asp, it returned "Error Connecting to database on SQL Server."

Helpfully, the error listed places where the mistake might lie.  However, the problem lies in none of the listed possible errors (User Name, Password, SQL Server name, database name, database_connection.asp); all have been quintuple-checked at this point.  What's more unusual: when I investigate the database, all the tables and such seem to have been created!

Can anyone identify what's the hangup here?

GoDaddy use mySQL not SQL Server, these are two completely different database management systems.

You need to go to the download section of this site and download the mySQL version.

Also make sure that GoDaddy are using mySQL 4.1 or above, I have a feeling they use an older, unsupported version of mySQL

You can choose between the two now.  I chose to install SQL Server 2003.

There is no such database as SQL Server 2003, I think you maybe confused with Windows Server 2003 which is an operating system, not a database.

I would check with GoDaddy that you have the correct settings and what database type you are actually using.
