I was wondering if it were possible to change the forum so that my forum Modrators could see a list of all new posts when they enter the forum?

This way they can easily check new posts and moderate much easier rather than trawl for new messages.

Not sure if this is planned in a future version or already possible.

Help would be much appreciated.

There are multiple ways of doing this:-

1. Your moderators can either use the 'Active Topics' feature to see posts since their last visit.

2. Your moderators can go to a forum and select to have only those posts listed since their last visit.

3. Your moderators could subscribe to have email notifications of new posts.

4. Your moderators could use the RSS Feed's to get notifications of new posts.

5. If you have post approval setup the 'Hidden Posts' page will show all posts that require moderators approval since their last visit.

Thank you Borg. I instructed them to use option 2 for now but option 1 looks good.

I cannot get the email notif to work so left this off for now until I discuss with my server about the email programs you suggest in the admin panel CDONTS etc.

I cannot get the RSS to work but am probably doing something wrong. I am using Firefox 1.5.0.2 and all I get is a plain text file of a recent post with all the HTML tags showing.

We do not always have Moderators on duty even thought they stretch from USA to Australia so I tend to find post approval too much of a delay for posters. I know it should be more of a reason to use approval for obscenities etc, but will see how it goes when the forum picks up.

Thanks for the help.Smile

RSS Feeds would be the best way, but you connect to the RSS Feed using software like www.feeddemon.com which you install on your own PC and the software grabs the feed from your site and notifiyes you of new posts.

The free Thunderbird email software also supports RSS Feeds and displays them in the same manner as if they are emails.

Firefox, can use RSS Feeds as live bookmarks, when you go to a page with an RSS button in your forum you will see a small orange logo appear in the address bar of Firefox, click this to add a live bookmark feed to Firefox.

I have post approval active but I've noticed that the 'Hidden Topics' link only displays for mods when they are viewing a topic or a forum and yet admin's can see the link all the time.

Is there any way to change the forum set up so that mods can also see the link all the time?

It is possible but would require extra database hits that effect performance.

At the moment they have to go to the forum they are a moderator of, or do as I do and get your moderators to book mark the hidden topics page, then they just need to click the bookmarked link to check the forum for posts to authorise.
