If a contant exisit in your messenger, then MSN Hotmail wont let you block their email address from the message reading page. Nor it would let you from the address book or anywhere else. What a crap design. Just because someone is in my MSN list doesnt mean i am intrested in reciving their email. Screw M$..I hate email services which wont let me block senders email id..Gmail included..

Hm. If I don't want to receive email form someone I don't have them as an IM contact. So I am kind of with MS on that one.

Using hotmail is a bad decision.

Why would you want to block someone's e-mail, but allow them to pester you with IMs?  To me it'd be the other way around.  Go ahead and send me an e-mail I'll ignore rather than interupt me with an IM.

Unless you are monitoring when they are online or something, and you are always invisible to them?

I have a hotmail account, but only to make sure my website's e-mails are not marked as spam.  I'm not that impressed with Hotmail.  It really hasn't changed that much (other than looks) from when it was an independent company, before Microsoft bought them out.

In Gmail, you just create a filter that deletes e-mail from the offending e-mail address when it comes in.  So you can do it in Gmail, it just requires you to setup a filter rather than press a "block sender" button.

Hotmail is just way to slow and clunky, even the new live mail takes ages to drag anything with it's so called 'drag and drop' feature. Gimmie Gmail anyday!

yeah but soo many id10t's are stuck to hotmail..that they dont seem to stop sending me email to my msn addy.. its far more easier for ppl to right click someone in this msn list and send an email then enter the email from their address book.. and talk abt the pain of migrating address books..

gmail rocks anyway
