I keep getting this error whilst borwsing the forum, making new posts, replies, etc.

Quote Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while connecting to the database.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_db_connection
File Name:- common.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft JET Database Engine
Could not use ''; file already in use.

I have changed the name of my forum database but have update the database_connection.asp file to reflect this. I can still make posts (if I'm lucky they go through) and few topics, etc. after refreshing.

This error usually means that the database is open in another program, like MS Access.

However, server problems can also course this error, and worth contacting your hosting company about.

If you can use the SQL Server or mySQL versions as Access isn't a very good database for this type of thing.

It appears only one person can access the forums at a time, everybody else sees the error message above.

I know I need to change to an SQL/mySQL database at some point but would like to get it working in Access at the moment.

This may be a daft question, but are there any settings anywhere that may limit the number of people able to access the database at a time? I didn't have such great problems with V7.

If what you are saying is the case then this is 100% a server issue.

Version 7 and 8 connect to the Access database in the same way, so any version would have this issue.

Contact your hosting company as this is something that needs to be addressed with their server.
