Subject: Image Uploading... how to?

I have done a search, but didn't find what I need.  My question is: as a forum user how would I upload/insert images?

When I select the insert image I can see the list of images in the Upload directory, but where/how would I select a file on my local PC to upload to the forums server for use in a post?

I am using the free aspSmartUpload component and have it setup correctly I believe...  just not sure how the end user can upload files.

Thanks!
ISCE

You need to give permissions from the admin area for groups to upload image and/or files in forums.

Once this is done you will see an upload button in the image window to upload images, and for files an attach file button on the post message toolbar.

Thanks Borg!  That was it.

Awesome tool, I hope to have approval to purchase today.

Being a newb just wanted to let you know how easy it was to setup and run, and love all the features and capabilities!  Great work!

I guess it doesn't like the filename although why I don't know.

I would suggest using a different upload component as testing found no end of issues with the aspSmartUpload component, and I found it one of the most horrible ones I ever used.

I know most web hosts don't support this component as it uses to many server resources and I have seen complete sites stop responding while a user is uploading using this component.

I've been looking into this issue and it looks like the issue is more than likely the AspSmartUpload component not being installed correctly on the server.

The error will be:- File not found: aspsmartuploadutil.dll

Thanks boRg... I will look at that as well.

Right now I am trying to find/setup the Dundas upload component... it appears they don't directly support that any longer but I've found it elsewhere.

FYI - it looks like the aspsimpleupload is also no longer available.

I will post here what I find out.

Thanks again!

I find AspUpload from Persists is the best one, but it's not free.

I now have this working fine with the Dundas upload control.  Install was easy and now it is working as expected.

Thanks again boRg for your help and an awesome tool!
