This looks like an issue with the upload compoent.

The Persists site should give you more idea what this error means.

OK. If there's a manual fix I can make in the meantime, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm using this for a business and I'm a bit embarrassed that this functionality is not available.

Thanks,

Steve

Not sure if this is related.  I have an Access version, and receive this error (the permissions are set to R/W for the Upload directory as well):

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while uploading file/image.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_upload_footer
File Name:- functions_upload.asp

Error details:-
Persits.Upload.1
Access is denied.

This looks like a permissions error.

it could be that you either doesn't have the correct permissions on the upload directory, or the permissions are not correct to access the upload component itself.

You also need modify permissions on the upload directory as well as read and write permissions.

In ver 7 when a new user uploaded files a new directory uploads/user_name was created and their files were placed there. Now files are going into the uploads folder (user folder not being created). Shouldn't each user get their own folder?

We migrated to new host at about the same time as the update from v7 to v8 so could be something to do with that but I'm not sure.

The username folder thing was only used in version 7 so that the admin could use FTP to try a workout which uploads were no longer needed and delete them, which is not a very good system.

Version 8 doesn't need this as uploaded file names are stored in a field in the database with the post, so when the post is deleted the uploaded files are also deleted.
