I put my signature line in like this:

Jake Pehrson
http://www.coralplanet.com - www.coralplanet.com
Murray
http://aquaticdatabase.com - http://aquaticdatabase.com
http://coralplanet.com - http://coralplanet.com
http://sugarglidercentral.com - http://sugarglidercentral.com

When I save it is reformatted to this:

Jake Pehrson
http://www.coralplanet.com/ - www.coralplanet.com
Murray
http://aquaticdatabase.com - http://aquaticdatabase.com
http://coralplanet.com - http://coralplanet.com
<a href=" http://sugarglid - http://sugarglid

and then in messes up the forum layout for any thread that I have posted in.  See screen shot

Users should not be able to mess up the forum layout via their signature lines.

Because of restrictions within the database only 255 characters can be used for a signature.

Signatures are limited to 200 characters, but if you use BBCodes to format things like links, these can add allot of characters to a signature taking it over the 255 characters allowed by the database.

The only solution is to shorten your signature.

boRg,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I did shorten the signature (which of course fixed the problem). The potential problem is that a user could screw up the layout of the message board with their signature alone.

Thanks

Borg, this was the same issue that I posted about before.

Maybe there should be some checking to see if the html tags are actually closed?  For every < there should also be a >.  Its the missing > at the end that is screwing everything up.

Hey, I just throught of an easy and elegant solution.  Immediately after it displays the signature, put an empty html comment <!-- --> in the outputted code.  The closing --> will close the cut off tag in the signature, which will prevent the signature from messing up the layout of the forum.
