To be honest, now that OpenOffice 2.0 is out I no-longer use MS Office, as OpenOffice is compatible with MS Office documents and can do everything I want to do in Office. In fact, I prefer it to MS Office, much slicker and faster.

So there is little point in spending $1000's on licenses to install MS Office on all my workstations, when OpenOffice does everything I need for free.

Borg,
Have you checked out the Action Pack from MICROSOFT. You get almost £15000 worth of software for internal use and it only costs £199+VAT. You get 10 licenses for Office 2003 Pro.

I have subscribed to the action Pack for nearly 5 years now, and swear by it. You get a file with all the software on it.. Win2k3, Windows XP etc..

Have a look at this link

Huh? That has got the be one of the worst pages for a graphic design program. The headings are in italics and the fonts render like crap. They should have used their own software and made them images LOL

NP Borg.. If you want to know any more about it, PM me and I will let you know.  I can always pop over to your office with it one day if you want to see the stuff you get with it.

I've already signed-up and put in my order, should save loads on licensing.

Now I wonder if it's worth looking into trying to become a Microsoft Certified Partner, or is that quite difficult to do?

It is not difficult. You need a product certification. I don't think you can do it with asp anymore but once you have a .net forum maybe. When you go to the http://www.microsoft.com/uk/partner/programme/certified/default.aspx?page=requirements - partners site they have it outlined there.

To become a certified Partner, afaik you need to have at least 1 MCSE working in your company. I think the program costs like £900 for a year as well. You can find out more on the partner site www.microsoft.com/partner

I have just signed up for the Windows Vista Preview as well at Microsoft which is Next Tuesday evening.

I don't have an MCSE nor do I want to pay £900 per year, so I think I may have to forget about that one, but I will look through it anyway when I have 5 minutes spare.

This is one of the best MS tips I've received in a long time. I signed up too. !!! The ActionPack plus costs $400 for us in the US and I'm holding off on that for now but with all those licenses included, it's a no brainer!!

I'm working out a deal with a gold certified partner which may save me the $$ so I'm waiting to see how that pans out first. Wink

Thanks for the tip!!! Clap
