2 CPUs - How do I use both?

Hi,

I've got a retired server running two 600 MHz (I think) CPUs. That's great and all for IIS or SQL Server or Photoshop, blah, blah... But what I want is to use it for other applications and take advantage of both CPUs. Specifically, I've got gigs upon gigs upon gigs of web logs to analyze and one CPU is just too damn slow. I'm using Analog ( http://www.analog.cx - http://www.analog.cx ) but it will only use one.

Any ideas on how to get programs not designed for 2 CPUs to use both?

All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

what operatingsystem are you running?? if you are running xp or 2000 then you can press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del] once to get the taskmanager to show. then follow the below instructions: (the text below is directly cut & paste from the windows 2000 advanced server help-file)

To assign a process to a processor

On the Processes tab, right-click the process you want to assign.
Click Set Affinity, and then click one or more processors.

Notes

The Set Affinity command is available only on multiprocessor computers.
Using the Set Affinity command limits the execution of the program or process to the selected processors and may decrease overall performance.

Thanks - that definitely helps out a lot. Is there any way to have this done automatically? Could I do it with WSH?

Oh - and at the moment the OS is 2000 Pro, but I think I'll be sticking XP Pro on it soon.
