Hi,
I just noticed different and thought it was only me, but now one of my test users reported it too.
Of course I am running version 8.01 of the forum and I went in and uploaded a photo into a message. It uploaded just fine.
When I went back later to look at the photo, it was a blank spot. I looked at the properties of the photo and it showed it was in a temp directory of where the photos are uploaded in the forum, but when I go to that directory, it was not there, but in the previous directory.
I was able to delete the photo from my message and find the photo in that previous directory and now it stays there.
What can be the issue with this, a setting that was forgotten? If I recall, anything that is uploaded does not go into the user name anymore, right?

If your upload folder is placed in a different location than a sub folder of the forum then this type of problem can occur. I would like to get to the bottom of this but have yet to be able to replicate the problem. Here is the path from the admin area:
uploads\files
(or forum\uploads\files)
Any suggestions?

I am having problems with the photo upload tool now as well. It worked fine for me in the version 7.2 however now when I go to attach a photo it lets me browse to the photo and then says "please wait while the photo is uploaded to the server", then it refreshes in the same pop up box and says "you have insufficient member rights" or words to that effect. I have checked in my admin panel and my admin account has full rights on all functions in every forum.
I have SA FileUp
folders are set to ..../../uploads/docs
although prior to the update I am sure I could set directories for the images and avatars which I set to ..../../uploads/images and ..../../uploads/avatars respectively.

This is a completely different issue to that above. The issue you are having isn't with the upload component but a permissions problem. I have the same problem as k6irk. in my upload map there's a submap called avatars (which actually holds the avatars), so that upload does work. But when uploading a picture or file it is said to be placed in the temp map, but there is none and it isn't created as well. When trying to post a topic of reply with an uploaded file it gives an error aswell.
Please help

Try creating a 'temp' folder inside your upload folder to see if that fixes this issue.

Solved the problem  On my server I'd set the settings of the upload folder to read/write but not to modify and execute. The upload engine moves the file from the temp folder to the main folder. This means it deletes the file in the temp folder. So you have to allow users to delete files. At least it worked for me! |
