WWF VERSION 8

New Version works great and upgrade was a snap... (not a single user complaint)

We have seen two "bugs" that we hope to resolve:

---------------------------------------
1.0) When a user posts to an older forum and an email is sent out notifying users of the post, we are seeing the letter "o" replaced with "o" characters.

Here is an example:

Forum: E-Marketing
Topic: Redmond WA
Posted By: MoY

The correct topic name "Redmond, WA" is shown in the forum and also in the e-mail header ... the error only appears in the e-mail text.

Anyone know why this is occurring?

-----------------------------------------
2.0) New Search Function

We are seeing cases where a "topic" search result does not find a known existing topic. We see same issue in all three key word search types... Search by Key Word = Match All Words / Match Any Words / Match Phrase

Anyone know why this is occurring?

Is there an online guide as to how use the expanded search feature?

1. This is something that has not been reported and will be looked into.

2. The search has completely been re-written and encoding for XXS hacking has been changed to make searching more accurate. However, this can mean some words posted with version 7.x may not now work in the new forum search engine.

Thanks for the quick review

RE: 2. Search

Anyway to update or revison to the V7 database so V8 search can find all words?

Our users are using search feature quite a bit to locate a specific topic (account name) or specific text (account reference info).

Any mod, tool or suggestion you have would be appreciated.

I'm afraid there isn't such a tool at present, and building one that works correctly would take at least a week of full-time coding, which I don't have the time at present to do. If allot of people require such a tool I can look into building one.

2.1) If we were to "rename" the old (v7) topics, would this be a solution for searches by topic?

2.2) ... or if we endevour to create "new topics" and "move" the old posts over to the new topics would this be a solution for searches by message?

Our forum has >19,000 Posts on >4,800 Topics ... the "old topic" history is valuable to us.

Updating the Topic Subject by typing it in again, will update the text stored for the topic to that of the new version.
