SQL Server is enterprise-level, money making stuff. Access is more like hobby stuff.

Is it worth the extra Cash?
OK the more complicated answer is that forums are server intensive, I know a lot of companies (hosting) who passionately hate them, multiple queries running all the time, some quite complex, people writing to the system repeatedly and so on... Access is pretty good, particularly v2000 (and above) however SQL is better... especially when WRITING / UPDATING information to the forum... So, a popular forum - yes, an unpopular one - no!

I really don't think a flat file Access (any version) can handle 30,000 visitors. Man, if you got 30,000 visitors, the hits must be way way more than 30,000.
