Hi Guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before, I have lookedConfused

We are running the new board, we upgraded from the old access database we had,

Some users are having trouble with the links being sent in emails, they are getting access denied when thet click the links??

Ive had the emails forwarded to me and they work fine for me.

The users can view the posts from within the board, and assure me their cookie and java settings are correct?? so im not sure whats up?

Can anyone suggest what to look at?

Thanks

It sounds like to me that they need to be logged in first to view the post because of permissions that you have set on the forum(s).

Once they login to the forum the link should work fine.

Hi Borg,

Thanks for your reply,

Yes when they are logged in they can see the posts that the  link in the email pointed to.

So if its down to my permissions, what would I need to change to these members acounts to make the links work , as it works for me and other members but just some say they get the access denied?

Even if im not logged in and click the link in the email it opens for me and im auto logged in I presume and taken to the post.  I presumed this was all down to the cookie settings of the log in?

I appreciate your support.
Thanks

If you allow Guests to view posts then no users would get the permissions problem when clicking on email links.

However, you may not want to do this, and for security reasons if your members need to be logged in to view posts then they will have to login.

Your members could select to auto login when logging into the forum, this would also prevent this problem, as the user would be automatically logged in. However, this does rely on your members choosing the auto-login when logging into the forum. The auto login system uses cookies so your members would need to make sure cookies are enabled on their browser and they are not clearing their cookie cache.

Thanks Borg,

I appreciate your time.
I was sure it was a user problem as it seems to work for the majority but just for the life of me could not see what could be up and as we had just upgraded from version 7.9 I did have doubts if I had missed something.

We dont allow guests so this must be it and there must be a cookie issue or the auto log in cant be set properly on their systems as when they are logged in they can have access with no problem.

Thanks once again, your Forums are TOP!!!!

Respect.
