I'm in love with Flickr!!!! It's wonderful from an administrative standpoint because you can edit all aspects of the images individually or in batches. They even have an ftp client app that allows you to upload your images in mass quantities as well as set captions, tags and other parameters at the time of upload.

(No I'm not promoting Flickr... i have a question.)

Flickr is some kind of AJAX/Ruby on steroids application. My question is, does anyone know of a similar application that can be hosted? Specifically for pictures but the applications are endless for website administration. Anybody know of anything even close?

As usual, I'm more interest in Micro$oft ASP, ASP.NET and even .net 2.0. The fact is, I would invest in the software as well as a dedicated server to get something like this in a language I can understand (DotNet 2.0 VB is a stretch but a road I am willing to traverse for something this exciting.)

If no one has a suggestion, who would be interested in a collaborative effort to develop this?

If you are unfamiliar with the administrative features of Flickr, create yourself a free account, upload a picture or two and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance.

Hm, I just checked it out and even though it is not bad at all I think the Gallery uploading features on communityserver.org - CS are nicer. They use a lot of AJAX as well. I am using it for my site (sig).

Not quite the same thing, but check out JAlbum - freebie for publishing photos from destop to web.

Thanks guys! I've checked out those two... I was really hopeful for jalbum but it missed the mark so to speak. I'll keep poking around... thanks.
