I am trying to get my forum to work with my SQL 2005.  I got everything imported fine.

I went to the Admin Tools and click on the ODBC to test the login for WWF and click on the "Test Connection" using the name and pwd used by WWF and the correct db used by WWF nd it work fine.

When I go to the IE, I get this error message below.  I know the SQL Server is running and how can I get access denied?  I just tried the test above and it work.

Need help.

Check that your SQL Server is running in mixed mode to allow TCP/IP connections and check you have set the correct connection string details in the forum to connect to the SQL Server.

Borg,

I went to my database that WWF is using and right click on properties and the authenticaiton method is "SQL Server Authentication".  I can only do that or Window authentiation and I cannot do both somehow and I am on SQL2005.

I also went to Admin Tools - ODBC and using the same username n pwd as on SQL_server_connection.asp and do a test connection and it work fine.

I put the username in the WWF database-Security-Users and it is there as in the .asp file above and I also put it the MAIN Object Explorer under Security-Logins.

Still get this below and appreciate all your help!

WOW!

You aint going to believe this.

I was playing around and really working very hard at it and I stumble upon it

OK, you cannot just put 'localhost' in strSQLServerName.  I explicit say the servername and it work.  Do I have 2 servers running?

I am running SQL2005 and I am using VMWare on it before I do the real thing on my computer.

Next I am going to update the db and do 8.01 and see how it goes!

Thanks so much Borg!

Sometimes when using localhost you also need to include the instance name of the SQL server.

I find the SQL server 2005 Express always requires that you also include the instence name.
