    Very nice -borg-

Now if I can just figure out how to import the data from my current access db (coldfusion "Fusetalk") to this db I'll be a very happy camper

Look for a donation coming your way sometime today!

EDIT: Don't mind me, I'm being slow. Found the link in the admin section... D'oH! I'll leave the rest here in case anyone else is as slow on the uptake as me!:EDIT ENDS

Fantastic, and only one snag so far:

I've used the (Access) DB migration tool from 6 -> 7 (testing it on an old backup just now, not the live version!) and it looks fine, only problem being the main page claims NO TOPICS and NO POSTS in any forum, plus total topics and posts as zero at the bottom of the page as well.

Go into any forum and all the topics and posts are there and can be read.

How do / can I reset the counts to the accurate numbers?

    Ta

I haven't had a chance to download the Final Release of version 7.0 but I have a question for anyone who is now using the final release. I noticed in the V7.0RC1 that when you would put a MSN buddy name in your profile that it would not show a MSN Button when you post like AOL and Yahoo. Was that bug fixed in the Final Release Version?

By chance, is there a change-log for RC1->Final? I guess db changes are the most important.

    . necronom .

BTW: -borg- excellent job on the forum. your skills are helping out a ton of people like myself to produce code for others also. If it wasn't for you, i wouldn't have been able to build up http://www.planetsourcecode.com/vb/scripts/ShowCode.asp?txtCodeId=8264&lngWId=4 - Chatter-Box to what it's become! To continue on with the theme, it'll always be free so that I can hopefully help others too! Keep up the bad ass work!

Outstanding work!  I really love the new version.

In fact, I love it so much, I half tempted to just overwrite everything in my database, so I can have it up sooner.  However, I don't think my users would be too happy with me.  Hehe.  Any suggestions on how to import the old data to the new version without breaking down and going through the change log.

If you haven't guessed, I am using SQL Server for my database back end, so the access migration tool would not work.  (I wish it did.  It sounds great!)

    Minor issue...

From the admin pages, click the Membership Admin link, then select a member (I was upgrading someone's membership from a ladder group to a non-ladder group with access to a restricted area).

Did the alteration, clicked the "update profile" button, got taken to a page saying thanks, updated, which has only a link back to the main forum (ie, no link to select another member; plus it's outside the admin frames page so the admin links are not available).

Oh, and one from the (excellent) migration tool:

Check your forum permissions before you go live!

Mine were re-set to allow all users (including guests) full access to all forums (including posting etc) - so I have had to go through and ammend all these. That said I was moving from 6.27 and not 6.34, if that's relevant.

I have a bug.  if you are in the non IE editor, when you click on the cry emotion, you get a javascript error, and nothing is inserted in the form.  to fix this, go to forum\includes\emoticons_inc.asp. In line 96, change: saryEmoticons(11,2) = "[: '(]" to
    saryEmoticons(11,2) = "[:\'(]"

    I have a problem too.

    The problem isn't on here.

On my board..when you try to change the font/size/color..it has an pop-up "explorer script promt"

So far everybody on my board has this problem.  What do I need to do do get it back to normal?

    Date Posted: 24 April 2003 at 10:45pm
version 7 looks awesome. I'm very excited about it. I'm testing it out now, and I had a polling question. Is it possible to post a poll where people will be able to both cast a vote once and leave a message? This would be very helpful to my board as I run tournaments in which people vote and leave comments.

    Thanks

On mine this then inserts [: '(] (minus the space) into the form; it then displays that and not the smiley. This indicates more changes required than the single one mentioned above. So far I haven't investigated what and where - any one?

I have noticed an error, i have turned off the PM until later:

When REPLYING to a PM, and sometimes sending one (havn't been able to pinpoint it yet) i recieve the following once POST is hit:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e21'

The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again.

    /forum/pm_post_message.asp, line 323

other than that, everything else is working fantastic!

Really enjoying v7.01, but I have a question.

The block user function in the private messenger does not seem to be working. I have tested this on an admin account and a normal user test account.

Am I missing something about it or do you have any ideas? The form allows me to select "not message me" in pm_buddy_list.asp but the messages still come through no problem.

I have not altered the code for any of the pm check functions either.

Don't know if Santiago posted the right question, but it seems to me that the migration tool we need is in order to transfer our old forum data 6.34 to===> 7.01 v. for an SQL 2000 server.  As long that the new version work in Access (i think) and some folder have been changed.  Any tools ? You know, we  don't want to star from scratch,  the new forum is already installed and linked but not open yet, but we can't wait .  Any help ?.  Thanks.

There is a problem with posting a poll in my version. Something to do with a missing file. Check it @ http://www.te.fragworld.co.uk/forum - www.te.fragworld.co.uk/forum its in the first area. Try voting.

Its sorted now. It was a problem with poll_display_inc.asp, line 122. There was an extra word in that was causing problems.

Str8Dog's scripts appear to have been pulled.  So, there currently aren't any publicly available SQL conversion scripts from WWF 6.34 --> 7.01.

Someone help us SQL folk!  Thanks.

Tell me about it !... Two weeks searching, the forum linked, the WWF propaganda remove paid, everybody waiting, and nothing !... We are not going to start from scratch so....if there's no mod or add available to transfer 6.34 to 7.01 in SQL, what can we do ha ?Welcome to the "no one knows" "we forgot about people with SQL" club !.    I'll prefered if somebody says: No, that problem have no solution.  Period.  That way I don't waist my time.  Thanks anyway and sorry about my caracter, but that's really frustrating.

Where in the documentation does it say that there will be an automatic upgrade script from 6.34 to 7 - > NOWHERE!

The onus is on *you* to work these things out *before* you upgrade. Borg has no obligation to provide this functionality at all.

Whether you have donated money or not, this forum is provided for FREE.  The number of nagging complaints to 'add new features', 'get this version finished', far outweighs the 'Where in the hell is my upgrade script'

If you don't like it, don't use it. Simple as that.

You have an upgrade script that works from 6.34 to 7.01?

Post it somewhere!  (IE: I'd like a copy, and I am sure many others would, too.)

Is the script from Str8Dog?  If so, someone else already posted the correct link to it, and that script is still beta.

You know what Bunce ? You'r right !.  There's a lot of Forums out there for FREE and better support !  I don't need stupids answers and YES I did paid my contribution whit out complaint, not even thinking it if free or not, I was just listing the things I'v been done, and you know why ? Well...is not only 'cause I wanned to remove the WWF thing, it was a pleasure because I like to help people who help others and you'r not in that case Bunce, period !.  If you din't got it, to bad 4 U.    Not everybody have the same knowledge you have, not everybody want to start from scratch after one,  two years of work in 6.34 just because an SQL server  At least I got a rude, simple, straight answer: "NO solution, help yourself", but an answer after all. Thank you but who needs you anyways ? plizzzzzz... give me a break !.

Expectations of a new version were set long ago and now its here. It looks great but I share some frustration that existing SQL users don't appear to have been informed it would be unusable until a script was developed. OK, bad communication maybe but lets talk about the next steps.

    • There already exists a part-conversion to beta 3. I tried it on beta 3 and made comments in a separate posting. It needed some work to complete it.
    • Has someone already done some script work or a conversion?
    • Who is expected to follow thru on development of a script, WWF or volunteers?
    • Where can we get not only table layout information but also stuff about the values to put into new fields?

Somehow I believe this has already been thought about....if there is something being worked out somewhere please share your plan....

Sorry I don't know enough to be able to write one, so it will have to keep your fingers crossed that someone who uses the forum themselves writes one, or failing that use the SQL enterprise manager to create the new fields and tables in the database. If you look at the access version it should be able to help you with the table structure of the database.
