Thanks borg, I got a kick out of playing with your wwf app.

I got a thing to ask you.

WWF pages are mix matched of asp and htm. This might contribute some slowness. Do you think it would speed up alot if we write the result to a variable (like an array) then write the variable when everything done and with one response.write. Would it speed things up?

I'm learning asp and finding way to optimize your forum app :-) Hopefully I'll get somewhere.

mixmatching htm and asp is no prob because they are separate pages. HTM is even faster as it does not need to be processed by the server so if there is no vbs code in there, there is no reason to make it an asp.
You other q about the array, I don't really know what you mean but in general you can say, arrays slow things down rather then speeding it up.

is that still true? I was told that was no longer true... (if so then I can optimise a few sites...)

According to Pro ASP 3 by Wrox (I think Wrox experts have some credibility), you should "avoid excessive context switching between script and other content". Ie.

<%
process scripts
response.write results
%>

is faster than

<%
process scripts
%>
<body>
<%=result%>
<body>

That's what I meant.
About the arrary. I probably was hoping that we could store everything in some variable and write them at one time. Arrays are just good for organizing as I've seen in other languages and techniques. I don't know much about asp arrays though.

Oh, I though you where talking about seperate pages. You are right then, try to block your statements as much as possible to keep asp and html content together in one block....
