There are many forums, where posts counting is quite a problem.
Everybody keeps spamming so thay can get more posts, and this is way beyond madness.
So i thought, Maybe there should be an option in the admin section that disables the appearance of the posts counter...

What do u think borg?

How about an option that limits the size of some of these bloody signature images!

There have been many, many posts made throughout the world...
This was one of them.

it is possible.... But it'll take pretty much resources i guess and the board will be somewhat slower...

There is a feature that limits the number of posts per minute of you choice.

the spamming features are built into the forums system already, but if you have guest posting enabled then that is in turn overlooked. since there is no true way of keeping track of who is who if they are not a user on the board, you can't have a true count.  this was a funtion of v6+

if you just want to remove the item that says "Posts: xxxx" under the username, then that's easy enough as removing that line of code so it never displays.

Yes that's what i meant, and i know it's easy and i know how it's done.
I just think that maybe it should be included in the admin area to enable/disable as you wish..

It could be added to the admin area, so could many, many other things, but you also have to remember for each item in the admin area more data and new fields need to be included in the database, and each one will decrease the performance of the forum. So what I try to do is only add those most ensetial items that people would find useful.

Also as well admins and moderators can change the number of posts a user has made by editing the users profile.
