I'm using RTE (amazing software!!) as a CMS interface to update a website.

I want my users to be able to just paste in HTML code and then use the WYSISYG interface to edit it.

The problem is switching from HTML view formats and edits the pasted code a little too much. How can i disable this formatting..

I looked everywhere in the scripts and cant find it so i'm assuming it a built in function to IE ... I just wanna be able to turn it off!

Any help would be fantastic

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do.

Are you wanting to disable the button that toggles the HTML to source code view?

No ..

I use dreamweaver to build a page, I copy the source code, and then go to RTE, flick into HTML view, paste the code into the box and then switch to normal view.

When i do this, the RTE formats the HTML, especially the code for embedding flash objects.

A link gets changed too, for example if you put in <a href="index/home.asp"> it gets changed to <a href="http://cms.mydomain.com/rte/index/home.asp"> ... i'd rather it just left it untouched!!!

I see now, I guess then you are using IE.

IE's built in RTE API not only creates shockingly bad HTML code, like allot of Microsoft software, but also likes to re-write HTML code copied and pasted into it.

There is no way to override this setting in IE's RTE API, it just something you have to live with as an IE user.

However, Mozilla Firefox's RTE API creates much better HTML code and doesn't re-write HTML code copied and pasted into it.

If you want improved HTML code then you would need to use Firefox.
