I use 7.x version in a couple of sites. And today i saw an update for 8.x versions for security reasons.

Does this bug affect 7.x versions?

The 7.x version is no longer supported so you should upgrade to version 8.x

Version 8 has more security than version 7.x with an improved login system more alerts on how to setup your system more securely and more security options enabled by default.
