Server Error in Forum Application An error has occured while writing to the database. Please contact the forum administrator.
Support Error Code:- err_Access_loginUser()_update_USR_Code File Name:- functions_login.asp
Error details:- Microsoft JET Database Engine Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.
That's the error message I'm getting when I try to login in to a clean install. I'm hosted at GoDaddy's "economy" level shared server. In the hosting control panel, I don't see where to set file or folder permissions for pre-existing folders and files. I have to create the directories it seems.. Am I on the write track? Help help. I'm a noob!

This is a permissions issue.
The database needs to be placed in a folder that has read, write, and modify permissions.
You will either need to see if GoDaddy have a folder setup for this, or ask them to change the permissions for you.

My permission choices are
read web browse write set root reset
I want the database secture, right? So I'm assuming I'll only allow the read and write persmissions, is that correct?

You need read, write, and modify permissions.
I don't know how GoDaddy allow you to set permissions so you will need to contact their support about how to set permissions on their system.
I would imagine it is a common issue when using Access databases at GoDaddy, so they probably have an online FAQ on this.
