I know this has been covered before but I haven't really found any answer or help.

I have the following problem only in Internet Explorer:

If I try to access http://www.mydomain.com - www.mydomain.com I am unable to login and get a session tracking error. If i go to just mydomain.com the log in works fine.
Now I just tried in firefox and I get similar problems. The first login worked just fine, but after going to the admin login, it says the security code was incorrect (have now tried 5-6 different codes and they were entered correctly). Now I can't log in at all, from either domain, firefox or internet explorer. This is obviously a problem and if there is anything I can do to help I am more than happy to do so.

I am using the latest version 8.03 and have also had the same problem on a different computer from a different location.

I have tried changing the sessions to database stored but get the same error. I don't know if this effects everyone or just a few people? Maybe someone could try it for me please?

as I can no longer get into the admin section you would have to create an account to log in to. Thanks!

It looks like you may have modified things on the board as there is no security code displayed when trying to register which means that no-one can register to find what the problem is.

The session error suggests an issue with the server holding the ASP session. Are you running the server yourself, or is this something your web host needs to look into?

Hi. I have disabled the security code for registrations in the admin section and registrations work fine, unless you were unable to register?
I run the server myself and it's a dedicated server with only 4-5 internal sites on it so it is unlikely that it's a server problem. How would go about checking that out?

Cheers!

The problem will be in your application pool.

Make sure that you have not setup the application pool to run as a Web Garden.

Also, check to make sure that the PID for w3wp.exe process in Windows Task Manager remains the same, if the PID for the process keeps changing it means that the App Pool has an issue and keeps recycling.

Ok. I have now moved that site to it's own Application Pool, however I now have a different problem.

I can log in and don't get an error message but after returning to the forum index i am no longer logged in. I will experiment a bit more and post an update. Thanks for your help so far.

Make sure also if using Windows 2003 you are using the RS release or have SP1 installed as pre SP1 versions did have a number of issues that could be coursing the problems you mention.

Well. It's still temperamental. There is definitely a problem with a Tracking Codes/Picture Codes. Same as before it just won't accept them and keeps saying they are incorrect. I can't get into the admin section as it requires entering a code. I can log in without the codes as long as I set the login attempt to 0 in the database but that still doesn't get me into the admin section. Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, The server is running 2003 but is up to date with latest updates & service packs.

Try changing the functions/functions_session_data.asp file to use the database to store the session data in.

I had previously tried the database sessions option without success, but since creating a new application pool for the site and now changing the fuinctions to use the database seems to have fixed the CAPTCHA problems. Thanks for all your help.
