I've set up a forum, using 8.02, and had posted a single msg in one of the forums. I've then upgraded to 8.03 and now the msg is gone. In the forum list it shows 1 msg in that forum but the msg is not visible.

The matching topic and thread rows are still in the DB (SSE2005).

What's going on?

Try reuploaidng the ASP files in case you have a corrupted file.

If that fails, click on the admin icon in the topic, and then hit the submit button in the pop-up Topic Admin window, this will refesh the statics for the topic and should make it appear again within your forum.

Nope, didn't work. Have temporarily moved all msgs out of that forum, deleted it and recreated the forum, then moved the msgs back.

I still can't see how this can happen, there are no changes in the code on from 8.02 to 8.03 that would effect or even change the way forum posts work or are displayed.

Ok, I thought I'd post a bit of background purely for interest, as all is fine now.

I originally installed on a development server and posted test msgs. Deleted all except this one. It's the sign-up instructions and usage policy.
Copied the database (by backup then restore) and files across to a production server. All appeared to be working fine.

I renamed a couple of users, but not the admin user with which I had posted the msg, and deleted one of the renamed users (the wrong one) then uploaded the 8.03 files.

So, it may not have been the upgrade. Who knows?

As the tables in the database are linked, if you delete any items or members, you should do so through web wiz forums and not directly in the database, this keeps the integrity of the database so everything works right.

might sound like a silly question but...
did you check the "Show Topics Since" in the forum?

it might be as simple as that, and just got over looked?
