hi folks ..

could someone explain to me what SHOULD happen when a user uploads a file while writing a post.

uploading a picture works fine on my forum .. the picture apperas in the WYSIWYG editor and the upload window closes.

When uploading a file ... the file uploads [i can see it appear in the correct folder] but the upload window refreshes with a clear browse field.

Furthermore ... i kind of thought that once uploaded .. a link to the file would appear in the WYSIWYG editor but there is nothing.

Is this by design or is something wrong here?

There is no error message. I am using the Final V7 Access 2002 version and this occurs on my own machine and on my web host's server.

many thanks in advance ..

deJaya

ps .. using ASP upload component

A link should appear in the text box.

Does this only occur when using a WYSIWYG Editor? If so what version of IE are you using and on which OS?

What upload component are you also using?

If you have upgraded form a previous beta have you replaced all the files with the latest ones?

hi borg ..

thanks for the reply ..

it's a fresh install of V7 using ASP Upload with a db converted from 6.34

I've got ie6 and xp here.

i've just realised though that the behaviour on my webhost server is now almost right [still not working on my intranet but online is most important obviously]

the upload window now closes and places the FILENAME in the WYSIWYG editor but no link as such ... just the filename.

dont think i've edited anything i shouldn't have!

any ideas

thanks again

deJaya

ps: A HUGE thank you for this [and previous] forum .. utterly outstanding!

The inputting of the link is carried out client side using JavaScript, make sure that JavaScript is enabled on your web browser, as I doubt it is a server problem, more likely a JavaScrip/browser problem.

If the window is closing after the upload then the server side code is running correctly, the JavaScript should then inject some HTML into the Iframe for the link to display.

I had a look and it worked without a problem. Although the CSS you are using ment that it didn't light up as a link till I opened the post preview window.
