besically testimonials are written by other members for / about a member. so there will be the latest testimonial showing in the profile of member and a link below to show all testimonials leading to the page where testimonials (all) will be showing. There should also be a link to write a testimonial. when a testimonial is written it should not show in the profile until the member about whom the testimonial is written approves it.

also if you may like, add the become a fan option but thats another mod. :D

1-where have i posted (in forum_topics.asp) the topics in which a member has posted will contain a mark right beside topic name, say a pencil graphic...

Do you mean the active users part of the code? Or the whole application isnt stable? Because I worked around the bugginess of the active users portion with a logic test of my own design. XD

I just recently deployed ASPChatNow on my Server. after a while it goes weird all of a sudden you cant see your messeges as well as others. n then if you login again its the same!?

A Javascript based Navigation

there is a tabulized solution to this but that is messy and well not much attractive. I've visited a phpBB site a few days ago and it was using a javascript menu which made the whole thing neat and kinda sexy

...it was a side-on-hover-slide-out menu and if i am right the skin was dustygreen, anyway if that can be done it would be much better the tabulization. It can be either one as above or a drop down menu at the top. If such integration is done I think it will be very good. The example of the latter one can be seen at www.skingecko.com

Dont know what you mean by "displaying invisible posts for private forums". If they're invisible or private, why would you want them displayed on a home page?

Okay badly put. What I meant was if a user don't have access to a certain forum, then don't show the post in the 10 last post mod.

I just looked at it again. Drew's code was to be put on the forum main page IRRC. To put it in any page, I merged it with a bunch of stuff from default.asp and came up with a real sh*t script for doing it that basically used every include statement from default.asp and everything it calls. Never botherd to clean it up because there were so many other mods coming out that did the same thing.

I am about to release a shoutbox mod called Clean Shoutbox. So keep an eye out for that. The warning level mod is still sitting around my scripts folder, waiting to be finished, so that's need some attention sooner or later

Hello,

I have tried search for "IP search" but the search wont let me do it because "IP" is less than 3 chars.

So, has an IP search mod been requested? or implemented? That is to allow admins to search for a particular IP within forum posts to see which users were connected with that IP.

Is it an hard implementation?

I wrote one for v7.9x that works just fine under v8.0.

It's listed somewhere in the 7.x MODs forum.

Hi guys - I'm new to moding - been using web wiz for a while but never ventured into the code myself.

Is there a banner add rotator mod? like 25% of hits show 1 banner 25% show another and 50% of hits show another? You know what I mean? Where you can set the ratio of the banners showing?

Is there any kind of banner add mod?

Also - is it easy to change the width of the overall forum - so I can put a seperate navigation (or images or advertising or anything really) on the left as is done with this forum? My forums allways fill the page 100%.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Shoutbox has some bugs that Im working out at the moment, after I get the main bug out than it basically ready for release. Right now my site is down due to non-payment, but should be up in the next day or two.

I didn't know if I should post this here or in a new thread... I guess you know what I decided.

Here's the idea.

I've seen other's write that they want to be able to (as admins) send bulk PM's to all users.

I was thinking that it would be cool if there was a method of allowing each user to make distribution lists of their own. Like a buddy list, but allow them to create several lists of buddies. Then, allow them to send a PM to the list. Could even add a feature that allows them to send email instead of the pm. Sure, it could be abused and not likely good for all forums, but in a small controlled forum it could be handy.

(Kind of like a bulletin in MySpace only with options.)

I haven't really dug into the PM functions yet and was wondering if anyone had done any work on that. Or... am I spitting in the wind here?

I would seriously be interested in that!

I have been creating groups in my forum so I can send email or PM blasts to certain members pertaining to info they would be interested in but that creates problems when members of one group also need to be in another group when I send out stuff, then I have to send individual emails. IE, One person is in my Game Night Group and also my Fantasy Football group.

I agree it could be abused but I think that only admins and moderators should be allowed to do this.

GREAT IDEA!

I hope someone creates this kinda MOD!

(damn I need to learn more ASP and DB stuff!)

Hi Demon,

Sorry if you're currently not accepting requests for mods, but if you are, please see below...

I think a good mod would be a convertor from Snitz (or possibly other forums aswell), as these seem to be high in demand.

I was working on a mod for this a while back, which worked with version 7 of WWF, but you had to do a lot of work to get it to convert correctly.

The ability to create "calendar event" categories. In the calendar view (month, week), the categories may then be used to filter content that's shown on the calendar, much like the birthday hide/ show. A category dropdown containing options of "Show All Categories", "Category1", "Category2", "Category3", etc could be used to provide the constraints.

If possible, I'd like to request a mod for the admin side of things...

A moderator on my forum thought it would be amusing to change his post count to ~10 times the amount it should be, and currently there's no option to 'recount post counts'.

Also, due to a past conversion from Snitz, some post counts are in the minus figures.

Is there any way a mod could be created to recount members post counts, and update their post counts accordingly?

Either on the registration_rules.asp page

have to enter date of birth the calc the age and refuse sign up if under the set age.

or better would be on the register.asp page so the age in the profile has to be over the admins set age limit.....

There are some group based mods that i'd really find useful....

1. Setting the size of the PM Inbox for custom groups.

2. Abililty to set parameters for different groups/custom groups. ie. Turn signitures on or off for each group.

I'd go for request 1 too racekites. Would be very handy for my forum which is run for a club but open to all. It would allow me to give extra benefits for paid club members. In fact, request 2 would be good for my site too!

I've already modded a couple of parts of WWF (before even setting up a live forum

) so might look into ti myself.

Would that really help? I've never, ever put my real DOB into any webpage that asked for it. 01/01/1960 lets me in, but certainly ain't my birthday. What's to stop a kiddie lying about their age? (like they do when buying booze and fags

)

Should be easy enough to do though if you at least want to show you are making an attempt to restrict age.

the effort to try to keep them out!

I know it is soft but being a father myself I think this should be

in some way implimented!

The standard WWF agreement has age 13 I have changed mine to 18 and why not make use of the DOB part of WWF in this way Any pointers please

on where to start to get this working ?

Will have a look at writing a Mod myself.

Turning the Sigs on and off for each group should be really easy, could do it simply in forum_posts.asp byhard coding the ID of the groups in an If statement....

you set the PM count in the Forum Configuration section in the admin area.

and the best way to do the sig stuff is in register.asp

look for where you can edit it and just have

if intGroupID = *allowed group* and intGroupID = *other allowed group* then

current code

end if

though you could do a 'double check' in the forum_posts.asp page too.. and member_profile.asp page

I get users signing up posting spam links then never visiting again and its so annoying.

I know they have mods like this for other forums. Just never Seen one for WW yet

chorn - i dont think there is any like that

what you could do is.

create the start group and give it say untill 5-10 posts till they upgrade
and make it so that anyone who posts in the start group needs to have their posts approved.

allowed you to delete the spam before anyone sees it

_popupControl(); I think that you should create the ability for anyone to add CUSTOM fields to the registration process. This would keep all of the Forum users info in one database.

I'd like to suggest a mod that disables users from being able to use PM until they reach a certain post count.

serious reason behind this, we have had many people register to the forum and not post but PM other members with sexual questions. As a result we have had to turn off PM's.

Would love it if there was a way of allowing PM's after a member has proved themselves so to speak.

I'd like to suggest a mod that disables users from being able to use PM until they reach a certain post count.

serious reason behind this, we have had many people register to the forum and not post but PM other members with sexual questions. As a result we have had to turn off PM's.

Would love it if there was a way of allowing PM's after a member has proved themselves so to speak.

On the fly, i'd say....


'If the user is not allowed then send them away
If intGroupID = 2 OR blnActiveMember = False OR blnBanned OR (rsCommon("No_of_posts")) < 40 Then 
    
    'Clean up
    Call closeDatabase()
    
    'Redirect
    Response.Redirect("insufficient_permission.asp" & strQsSID1)
End If

....should do the trick

Just alter that block already in the PM pages. Adjust the number (currently 40) to whatever you deem sufficient.

A mod that has any sort of post/member rating/thanking , or accepted answer, anything that rates users. I see its been tried but I dont see anything for mysql users yet

MOD REQ(S) ...

- Events show up with Birthdays on index
- Flash button added to the RTE (like the image and URL buttons)
- The topic preview mod to show the last/most recent post in the topic (not the first one)
- The quick reply to be replace with the full reply (or an option to have either)
- Scalability for the smiley pop-up (can't add new ones) or at least scrollbars
- Alert notifications when you login if you have new PMs (like the old v7 boards)

How about a forum bot that automatically posts a reply to someone's posting at random intervals with a random set of generic responses from a text file. This I think, would add humor and also facilitate conversations on less busy forums.

Some sample text replies from the bot could include:

- <username>, that is a very interesting post. Care to elaborate?

- Great posting, <username>! You have obviously given this topic some thought.

- Interesting post <username>. I wonder how others feel about this..

etc...

I'm looking to make a spoiler tag and need some help as to where to start.

If you don't know what a spoiler tag is. It's similar to a [quotes=] tag accept anything between [spoiler=Teaser]text[/spoiler] is put into either black text on black background or hidden until clicked on.

am not sure if this really solves your problem fully.....

.....but if the CSS for the [quote] and the [code] tags are different then you could use code, as i doubt your forum is a coding related forum.

you could make it so that the text color of [code] is the same as the background as you said.

if that doesnt work, i may look into making and releasing a mod.

Correct, not much of a coding forum. Plus that's certainly a start if I wanna add in a spoiler tag, just add then tweak the code css. Thanks.

So first I modified the code to work as a spoiler tag, then got adventurous.

I managed to build my own spoiler tags. I found the various required .asp files that ran the /quote /code bbcodes copied the code one and made my own spoiler tag out of it. Not to hard to do. Then just had to add in a .bbspoiler into the various css files to make it do what I want.

Editing the code was easy, simple had to add a line of background-color to match the text color. But building the spoiler tag was more fun.

How about a referrer mod - ie, people sign up and can specify if a member referred them. Could also use a URL to refer people - ie, http://www.myforum.com/refer.asp?username - www.myforum.com/refer.asp?username , so it fills in the referrer field in on register page.

You could then run competitions based on the number of referrals etc.

Mod #1 to allow members to display their location - type in city and state, not just choose a country. It's important for our members to display their real location next to their name and avatar.

Mod #2 - allow members to type a short "motto" or saying in the "author" area, say below the avatar. Could describe their image.
