I was wondering if anyone had done any work on splitting and joining threads. You know how a topic can start in one direction and then turn into something entirely different?

Well, if you were able to click "move" and move the reply with the option of "include all posts after this one" it would be possible to split a thread.

Alternatively, joining that same post and all replies to an existing topic might be another way to manage discussions.

I've been working on a threaded discussion model but wanted to know if anyone had done any work on this kind of thing before I reinvent the wheel.

I can't say i've seen this done in WWF.
I know from using it on PHPBB that it's a bloody good idea.
