I posted this question at http://new2asp.com - new2asp.com but I thought I would post it here too.

I was wondering of you knew how this worked... according to the table design in wwf, table tblauthor key is an int which is limited to 4 characters. But in looking at (the WWF) forum, he has users in the 20 thousands... I'm confused. I thought it would have been limited to 9999.

Do you know?

[Author_ID] [int] IDENTITY (1, 1) PRIMARY KEY  CLUSTERED  NOT NULL

int = 4 characters. I'm confused.

The limit is the number of characters so the maximum author id would be

999 followed by 9996 nines.

An Int datatype in SQL Server can handle 2^31-1 which is a massive number, even if I know what it meant!!

An interger in VBscript can hold numbers upto 32,000, which is why Long Intergers are used which can hold upto 2147483647.
