I have been trying to figure out hot to embed objects within the RTE. If you embed a video from youtube, the RTE sees the http:// and adds <a href="the link" it also adds, extra characters etc. Is there a way to modify one of the RTE files to see <object></object> and not modify the text so it displayed properly when posted ? Also, when you add the object in htmlview it does not display properly.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

It should work but depends on what browser you use as the Web Wiz RTE uses the browsers own built in RTE API. These work differently with the verious browsers and all have their own quirks and bugs, but Firefox's Midas RTE API seems to be the best at handling this type of code. | So it's a limitation of the browsers API, that causes it to format the text incorrectly. I would then have to require all members of the site who want to post their video, to switch to Firefox or Opera. There has to be a easier way that doesn't limit the users. Can I modify or remove the RTE from the forum, and add one that does not strip or remove any of the code as long as I leave the copyright info intact ? |

You mention forum. Are you referring to Web Wiz Forums and the RTE used in that? If so you have posted in the wrong forum as this forum is for the standalone RTE not the one that comes in Web Wiz Forums. | I apologize borg. I thought that it was solely an RTE issues and was not actually related to the forum so I posted it in here to see if there was a fix. I will check in the wwf forum also and will also try enabling flash in posts and see if this fixes the embed object. |

That's OK, a standalone version of the RTE was also made as the RTE is used in other software from Web Wiz Guide and it was thought that others may want to use the RTE in their own projects as there was over 8 months of full-time development work went into the RTE.

Same question. Is there anyway to embed a flash <object>in WWF (v. 9.06)? Have enabled flash in admin area and modified header.asp file to include appropriate <script>. Thanks, Jon - GS |

Yes it is already built into Web Wiz Forums. You need to enable Adobe Flash from the admin area, once done on the full text editor page you will see a  icon in the editor toolbar to add Adobe Flash. Bruce, Thanks for the prompt reply. I understand that the BBcodes for FLASH works with simple .swf files, but what about more complex <object>? I want to use the flash audio player ( http://www.macloo.com/examples/audio_player/" rel="nofollow - see audio player here ) to embed interviews and such. Is this a possibility with WWF or should I just use a page on my site (where I can use html)? Thanks, -Jon |

To embed Flash in a web page, including in web wiz forums it is embed as an object. Web Wiz Forums when you enter the link to your .swf file will create the rest of the object code for you. However, looking at the link you have given it you need to add an extra parameter to the flash movie with the location of an mp3 file. You would not be able to do this in Web Wiz Forums. Understood. I suppose I could take advantage of the URL feature and link right to the mp3 file. Then it would be up to the user's local environment to decide which player to use. Anyway, thanks for answering my question. As always you've been very helpful Bruce. -Jon |

Why not try (if you are wanting interviews, media etc) what we use if you do not wish to use UTube as another obvious source - which is http://www.flash-video-mx.com/web-player-pro/" rel="nofollow - Flash Video MX Pro and is an excellent way of producing SWF files

My focus is primarily on audio (e.g. recorded Skype interviews) rather than video, but I will take a look at the Flash Video MX Pro. Thanks for the suggestion. Do you have an example of this in action on a WWF? |

Not quite - but it is a great program. I usually use Magix Movie Edit 14 Plus, tweak and then create a SWF file if needed, but it is just a demo of what you could do if you wanted something similar on WWF

Dude, that's exactly what I'm looking for. You nailed it. I'm currently running an earlier version of WWF (9.0x) and am waiting for v10 to be released before I upgrade so I don't know I'll be able to use your mod (since it only works for v9.51, but it would be fantastic if this were a standard feature in v10. Other than that, nice work. |
