Yes by enabling windows authentication.

Edit the file functions/functions_windows_authentication.asp and follow the instructions in that file as to how to set this up.

After doing that the windows authentication information is successfully passed just fine.  However, I am unclear how to manage who my moderators are vs. posters.  Is there any way to define which AD groups can be moderators.. ?   -or- Is there a way to set "permissions" based on AD OU membership... ?

Members are stored in the data just like with a normal setup, so you can select which members you want to be part of the moderators group by editing the users profile within web wiz forums.

How do you log in as administrator coming from a computer that participates on the domain.  It autopopulates my windows account name into the field and asks for a password.  It does not allow me to use my domain password nor does it allow me to leave a null field.  I'm using SQL for a backend..   I found in the table where I could promote my user id manually, (changing from 4 to 1), but that doesn't allow me to log in either.

Please advise.

Best Regards,
-Joe

You need to log into the admin area directly, by pointing your browser to the admin.asp file and logging in that way.

Q. Is there a way to batch import users from Active Directory and preselect a group for the users to be assigned based upon a Active Directory field? ...as opposed to going in after each person visits the forum and specifying his/her permissions.

Q. Do you know if it would fail if we imported them from Active Directory directly into tblAuthors within SQL ?

Ex.  It is our intent to allow employees to post to moderated forums but only allow the post to be visible after the managers approval / response to it.  We may allow the posts to be visible initially, however, we want to police it to an extent.

We have somewhat of an org chart built into AD..  however, we would like to import Employees as  Groupies, Supervisors as Senior Memebers, and Managers as Moderators..

Q. Can we rename these groups safely ?

The plan is to allow Supervisors as moderators in their specific forum, and managers to be moderators in all forums.  And of course Admins are admins...

Standard ASP can't get the AD Group, but someone did post a fix to this recently using an object which I think is built into Windows 2003 Server.

You can change what groups users are in at anytime and set different permissions for groups on forums. You can also setup which groups require their posts to be approved first and in which forum through the permissions system.
