I have a forum where all users have all access rights

users can browse and read the avrious topices

When any user posts a new topic, a message stating - unable to post insufficient privelages is displayed. However the post does actually succeed.

After the apparently unsuccessful post the user can not then browse the board at all and gets the insufficient privelages error when ever he/she tries.

for various reasons all my users were groupies, when a user posts as above their level reverts to newbie !!

You have your forums groups systems setup incorrectly.

What it sounds like is happening is that you have the ladder system for groups enabled, when a user posts they are moved to a group that doesn't have sufficient rights to access that particular forum.

Go to the admin area and reset up your groups and also forum permissions.
