I noticed in the v8.0 Blog Borg is a bit bummed by the fact that there were not a lot of  submissions to the skin contest. I got to thinking, I tried many times to start a skin but shut down when I hit roadblocks like sample images.

So I have two questions...

1. If I took the time to build a tool that would let you easily, and semi-graphically build the CSS sheet, would it be helpful?

2. Would anyone be willing to share, some PSD's or base images, so I could create a library of base images that you need for a forum in some better format, so we could all leverage the basics we need to get started.

I think these two options, would help to create a LOT of skins for WWF.

I'll be busy for about a week or two more with some projects that I'm finishing up at work. After that I'm available to help out in any which way.

Nicely done on the skins forums. I am looking at the CSS tonight, seeing what it would take to make the CSS file generator work. I think it may be doable.

My first task (and anyone that can help with this part, is welcome to)...is to take an inventory of every style and map it to a screen shot of the web wiz forums.

Anyone wanna help with that?

I think mikey has captured all the webwiz skins on his site already. have you checked his site out yet?

Yes, his site is very nice. When I say take an inventory of every style, I don't mean each skin, I mean the individual styles inside the CSS file. I know what most of them are for, but I don't know what all of them are for.

What i was doing was working through it on a forum in the webwizskins forum.

I'll give you rights to see it and add to it what you want Thumbs%20Up

Between me you and Jeffrado we should be able to build up a pretty comprehensive guide.

That sounds good... since you have it started already, it shouldn't take much longer to complete it!

I have begun the the CSS editor. I started messing around a bit last night, and got a nice little prototype put together. I am going to try and get a working copy that will let you edit, at a minimum the table colors, so I can share the app with a few people, and see what they think of the concept.

Count me in for whatever help you may need, my sole aim is to generate more and varied skins for WWF.

If we can identify the 'roadblocks' that occur when a user tries to create a skin, then we can find a work round to eliminating these road blocks.

There are some very talented people out there, it's just a case of CSS understanding

I was able to import and alter and apply a CSS last night, but I have some bug that makes it not apply to the forums properly. I validated it, and it has nothing but warnings/recommendations so I am not sure what is wrong. I'll debug tonight.

I am getting frustrated.  I wrote some code to parse the CSS file, and am able to load it, but when I write it back out, WWF won't apply the CSS. I think it is because of the parsing. When I grab the CSS from MSHTML, I get all of the tags broken out, so some may be duplicated because of the way the default sheet is written. I have run a checker against it, and it's 100% compliant, but I can't get it to apply properly for some reason.

Just a quick update. I have stumbled across the bug that was holding me up, and I am making progress with the editor. I've been busy with work and life so I have not been able to code much lately, but I hope to have a workable version soon, if at least for some of the basic styles. I may also be able to post some sample screen shots, if anyone is interested in input on the interface for the editor. Let me know.

Just my two cents (or pence here in England)...

Something along these lines, but obviously for WWF, would be awesome;

My interface is similar to that idea, but instead of being a web page, I am building an application.
