Recently I have realised (after some warning), that on internet IP can be easily faked. I am wondering. Is there any way to avoid abuse by some people, who are faking there IP using some programs, eg. SurfAnonymous.
Because of this threat, I have made an experiment and tried to write on a forum, using SurfAnonymous. And I was shocked that forum registered this fake IP and wrote it to database.
Again. Is there any way to prevent that horrific abuse? Somebody can apparently easily write something on forum under faked IP, eg. something insulting, and nobody can trace him out, because of the fake(d) IP address.

That is the whole problem with the Internet, you can fake IP's. How do you think hackers get away with hacking government organisation's without being found? If someone decides to hide their IP address there is nothing that can really be done. A MAC Address can be spoofed in about 30 seconds using nothing but Windows. If you are on the net, you are not safe. All your base are belong to us. |

Personally, I don't consider masking an IP to be "horrific abuse". I think it's prudent to hide your IP, OS, etc. as a step towards securing your home network. Why give a malicious site an IP address that they know will have a client machine behind it? It's bad enough that they run an attack against a block of IP's - no sense it giving them a specific IP and OS to go after. -------------
