We have just upgraded to 8.04 and one of our users has reported that they can now only see part of postings.

As an example they have posted 25 lines of text (they numbered them) and I can see all 25 lines. They can only see the first 11 lines.

They are using IE5 on Windows 98.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Make sure the top line of pages within your forum have the following line:-

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

If not IE will not know to render the page as XHTML and therefore display the page incorrectly.

Hi,

I have just checked and the first line is as required (Example: http://www.myhanse.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=800&FID=1&PR=3&PN=2 - http://www.myhanse.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=800&FID=1&PR=3&PN=2 )

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

JT

Very odd, could be something that have running on their PC, I would suggest to them to upgrade IE on their PC or use Firefox instead.

Being that it's Win98 I would suggest to them to use Firefox as it will give them much better security.

By the way try Firefox 2 RC1 yourself, it has a built in spell checker that checks your spelling as you type, and it works in Web Wiz Forums WYSIWYG Post editor.

As the users are not technical am not sure that telling them they need to change to firefox is the best idea?

He has sent me a screenshot of the issue:

[Post as it should be http://www.myhanse.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=800&FID=1&PR=3&PN=2 - http://www.myhanse.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=800&FID=1&PR=3&PN=2 ]
Do you have any other ideas?

Is WebWiz not compatible with IE5.5?

Thanks,

JT

It is 5.5 compatible but as the user is using very out dated win98 system it could be a number of issues on his PC coursing this.

The best thing this user could do is upgrade the version of IE he/she is using and see if that sorts the issue.
