Hi,

I'm trying to read the WWF user cookie on an ASP.Net page.
I have no problem reading the UID code and using the ChkUserID stored procedure, it works perfectly when the username is in ASCII english.

The problem I have is with non-ascii usernames.
Since the usercode in the cookie is composed of the username and some string of text, it looks like ASP.Net can't understand that the username part should be "unescaped".

I'm really lost, it is really annoying, it was such a joy getting it to work with english usernames - but now I'm stuck.

Any Ideas?
Thanks!

Upgrade to version 8 it sues a completely new system and a new session tracking system that sits ontop of the ASP session system but is more secure and doesn't require cookies.

Is it possible to read ASP session variables from ASP.Net?

I want to install the new version, but I can't afford to pay $80 to remove the ads (I'd donate a lesser sum if it was donationware).

I've been running an advertisement free site for several years now, I'm not sure I want to see banner ads on every forum page.

I know you've spent lots of time developing the forums and I'd really like to give something back - but as I said, I can't afford it.

Then I'm afraid you will need to run the software with ads.

If you look around £39.99 UK Pounds for software is extreamly cheap especially if you get to remove the branding and it is a lifetime license for future upgrades.

Many other forum systems would charge over $1,000 to remove the branding.

I'm afraid that with the current state of affairs the US Dollar isn't worth very much in the UK, so the price in US Dollars at present looks very much higher than it did before the Iraq war.

Allot goes into the development of the software, what with full-time staff, dedicated servers, support time, development time, etc. The dedicated servers alone cost $900 a month just to supply you with the software and support forum! It's also just cost $1,500 for licenses to be able to include new improved icons in the next version

If you want to use a forum system without the ads and don't want to pay for a license then you maybe better off looking for another forum system to use. Try www.aspin.com
