Well I have not had the automatic updates and other websites say that Firefox is due tomorrow and IE is due later (Nov 1st if I remember correctly)

I always wait for the automatic update anyway.

Thought I have now heard else where that the browsers can be downloaded offically.

I'll still wait for the auto update.

Yup IE7 via Auto update is November first but the official release and time the download was available was Friday just gone.

The official FF 2.0 release isn't until the afternoon of October 24th, but there's downloads dated October 23 at ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/ - ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/

Looks like the IE7 team don't mind a bit of competition - http://fredericiana.com/2006/10/24/from-redmond-with-love/ - http://fredericiana.com/2006/10/24/from-redmond-with-love/

Thats strange, FireFox can't find any new updates.

Maybe nothing changed from the last RC to the release, not certain on that though

New release seems great. Just one annoying thing though (possibly changeable through options) is that it kinda ignores the XSLT style sheet when viewing RSS feeds in the browser, ConfusedUnhappy

No, it wont do an incremental update, you'll have to download the full package. That will update your current setup.

ISTRC that they've done this before for one of their major releases - 1.0 or 1.5 - posted it but didn't enable it for auto-update for a while.

A lot of people are set up to check for updates whenever the browser starts - they could have had a million downloads in the first 5 minutes.

Really, thats really very poor, you would think that when you went Help > Check for Updates it offer a link to the download site.

It properly will eventually.
At the mo they (as Dypers said) don't want their servers overloaded as every single copy of Firefox in existence went into automatic update lol
