Hello everyone,

With new versions of IE and Firefox now available, I'm curious to see which one people prefer and why.

Can you guys share your thoughts on which one is better and for what reasons. I've always used IE and became used to it and when I tried Firefox, I liked it a lot but found it rather more complicated. I'm sure as I become more acclimated to Firefox, it won't seem as complicated as when I used it for the first time.

How do you view each browser from a "user browsing the web" perspective and a "developer's" perspective?

FF 2.0 won't be out until tomorrow. So it's a little premature.

I have noticed that IE7 with developer toolbar loads a lot faster than FF 1.5x. But I've got a ton of extensions on FF which have yet to be developed for IE7,

I usually develop for FF and sometimes Opera and then apply hacks to make IE 6 work. I imagine I'll still develop for FF2.0 and then hack for IE7. The CSS conformance to standards in IE7 is better than IE6, but still not as conforming as FF.

I have to go with Firefox 2 over IE7, even the RC versions I've been using of Firefox are much better than IE7.

IE7 still has many of the issues and bugs that previous versions had, and seems more like IE6 with Firefox style tab browsing and search bar added, which for a first major release in over 5 years is a bit disappointing, so my view that IE sucks still hasn't been solved. It even ads new issues that again make it suck even more!!

Firefox on the other hand has come up with the killer app for me in Firefox 2, with it's in-line spell checker that is able to underline misspelled words as you type, even in WYSIWYG editors like the one used for posting in this forum. A quick right click on misspelled words gives a list of suggestions how the word should be spelt.

Definitley FF2.
As -boRg- said, I've been using FF2 RC's along side the full release of IE7 and its faster and basically p****s all over IE for both my developer and browser needs

When FireFox 2 updates this afternoon, what will happen to all my Extensions?

Will they still work?

The ones that have been made compatible with FF2 will continue to work the rest will automatically turn off until a time when they have been updated to work with the new release.
