SQL will install and run on XP Pro, IF it doesnt give you the option to install both the client and server during setup then you may not have the full Version.

From memory, you can only install the developer version on XP.

I don't think it will allow installation of the Enterprise or Standard edition. These require Win2K

Andrew

What version of SQL are you trying to install?

On a Client only SQL 2000 Personal Edition and Developer Edition can be installed. If you have Standard Edition or Enterprise Edtion you need a Server Operating System (unless you know how to use the registry)

I suggest your visit the SQL Server site at http://www.microsoft.com/sql - http://www.microsoft.com/sql to try and gain an understanding of what you are dealing with.

SQL 2000 comes in a number of different VERSIONS, of which some will work on Windows XP. This is probably the only difference you will come across in the different versions.

Cheers,
Andrew
