I have no idea when this issue occurred - probably after I upgraded to version 8 from version 7.65 - but existing users no longer have access to the forums. I tested this with a new user, here is what I did:
1. Registered a new user
2. Logged on as that user, I can see all the forums
3. I created a new post
4. When I return to the main forum page, I see nothing
What I did then was log into the forum as the administrator, I went into group admin properties and I noticed all of the group levels have the appropriate permissions. I simply clicked the "update permissions" button at the bottom for each of the groups anyway (hoping to reset).
I then registered a new user again and did exactly as above and I could see everything just fine, however the first user I created still had trouble. I had to go back into the admin panel and update the permissions to the user I created, then I could access everything.
So what I did was update the permissions for each registered member - a total pain mind you for 90 some records - and I am hoping that will work. The reset I did above seems to only work for new members and not existing members.
I wondered why no one was posting in the forum for many months!
Any idea why this is? Is there a way to correct this? I am sure what I did was a band-aide solution, but is there something I could run within SQL to fix everything? I have the SQL version.
