Hi all,

Can anyone help me out with a query I've got with the RTE;

I'm trying to use it as a simple CMS for a site I'm creating - all I want to allow users to do is edit each page - no adding pages etc.

What I'd like to be able to have, is a list of all the pages they can edit, and they just need to click on the one they want to edit for it to be sent into the RTE.

Could someone help me out with what I need to do to do this please?

Ie, is it as simple as http://www.domain.com/RTE/default.asp?pageiwanttoedit.asp - www.domain.com/RTE/default.asp?pageiwanttoedit.asp ?

Any help would be great, or any info on a free simple CMS would be brilliant!

Thanks

well, yes, it is possible - but not by default.

you'd have to modify it to suit your needs, which i believe is the whole point of the RTE

all you need to do is set the page that opens in the frame to be the one you want to edit, and you'll be able to edit it - but you'll also need to make a page to process and save the changes

Just as a hint... don't let users edit the whole page.

Pull the sections you want them to edit out into include files and give them a menu to edit the includes - e.g. Pg1.Col.3, etc.

If you let them edit a whole page they will certainly screw up your site look and feel as well as layout, interior links, headers, footers, sidebars, etc. Guess who'll have to drop everything and fix their foul ups?
