The sheers amount of users trying to download there free copy will be killing the speed, keep trying until you get a good connection and then it shouldn't drop out.

Also you don't have to use the microsoft download manager there's instructions on the download page.

That's okay. A friend of mine told me that each key can be used on up to 10 installs. So a friend of mine gave me his key and I was able to install it.

Man... vista is awesome!!!!

If you haven't figured it out, you can get certain kinds of flash drives that speed up vista a CRAP LOAD! when i had beta 2 i messed around with it a lot, and its really worth buying a flash drive!
If you have a ton of ram (2GB+) you can also do a ram trick that does the same thing as the flash drive.

how does vista rate your computers?

I only have one gig of ram on my computer and didn't actually notice any increase or decrease in speed. What I did notice however is that vista boots up a lot quicker than xp.

The performance thingy shows on my computer as 4.7 only held back by my RAM.

In previous betas my score as been both higher and lower as they have fine tuned the app.

So far i've been unable to find a flash stick in the UK that works with Vista's Readyboost but as soon as i do i'll give it a test.

Same here RAM for some reason is the main culprit. Though its 2gb 5400er which I think is not too shabby.
Little surprised that my CPU rates as low as it does though being a Core2Duo 2.4GHz.

I am not too worried about the score, I can run FSX at roughly 20FPS around airports and 30fps over land, that is pretty good (for me at least).

My RAM came out similar to your's mikey... and i only have one gig of ram with a core duo at 1.66...

I'm gonna try the flash drive trick... to see if it speeds anything up.
